This is a the basic to breading for things like fried chicken. You can use gloves, forks, or if you dont mind sticky hands you can use your hands. Prep the area before hand with 2 bowls, one for egg, one for flour, and set aside an a plate for the breaded steak strips.
First, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano parsley and basil to the a bowl or cup. Mix well. Pat dry the meat. Cut fat from meat, tenderize meat if needed. Add the seasoning mixture to all sides of the steak. Over season the meat. Pat the seasoning into the steak well. Cut the seasoned steak into strips.
Next, scramble the eggs into a bowl. In a separate bowl add the flour. Moving 3 to 5 strips at a time, mix seasoned strips of steak in the flour well be sure you are coating all sides. Ensure the excess flour that falls off the steak stays in the bowl to limit flour getting everywhere.
With the the floured steak strips, dip them in the scrambled egg. Coat all sides.
Finally, again mix the steak that was dipped in the egg back into the flour and coat all sides. ( if there is not enough egg of flour add more ).
Once you have breaded all the steak strips low heat add 3 tbsp of olive oil to a skillet/pan. Place the steak strips in the heated oil and cook on medium. Add olive oil a tablespoon at a time as the oil will absobred into the steak strips while cooking. You will need to add oil once the skillet/pan clearly does not have oil in it. Takes about 10 to 17 min to cook the strips, use a fork or spatula to flip the strips, tongs often remove the breading. Brown on all sides. About 2 - 4 minutes per side.
For the oil: Do not add too much, this recipe is a healthier, safer, and faster to cook as well as clean version of the classic deep fry method. Deep frying requires about a quart or more of vegtable oil, a probe to maintaint the heat of the oil so you dont start a fire, and a basket so you can fully submerging the breaded product
This is a low sodium healthy oil recipe. If you want to make this in a more unhealthy way that does taste a bit better swap the olive oil for salted butter. Add about 1/4 cup (half a stick/4 tbsp) to the skillet/pan. Melt it then cook the same. Add 1 tbsp of butter as needed. Be sure to avoid smoking the skillet/pan as butter creates smoke at lower tempetures than olive oil.
Want it spicy?
I prefer the cayenne pepper over the chillli flakes. Cayenne has a bit more flavor to me and a slower burn which is nice. I use 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper which isnt really spicy but goes super well with all the other seasonings.
