1 whole large lemon
2 tbsp butter
salt and pepper
Pat dry the steak. Salt and pepper both sides of the steak. For thick steaks salt and pepper all the sides of the steak.
Slice the lemon in half. Slice off 2 or 4 thin rings of the lemon.
Medium heat melt the butter in the skillet/pan. Next sear the steak on both sides, all sides if it is a larger thick steak. After searing juice the lemon directly on the steak. Next cook to desired level. After the steak is finished cooking set on a plate and place the thin slices on top of the steak while it rest. Steak should rest for around 5 minutes.
I do this with new york strips or ribeye steaks. You can also substitute the lemon for lemon pepper if you have it. If using lemon pepper do not add more lemon juice or top with the lemon while it rest. Gives it to much of a lemon flavor in my eyes.
