Thyme Steak

Thyme Steak Ingredient

  •   2 tbsp fresh minced garlic
  •   1 ~ 1 1/2 thyme leaves or a fresh sprig of thyme
  •   3 tbsp of butter
  •   1 ~ 2 tbsp olive oil
  •   Thick cut of T-Bone, Ribeye, or New York Strip Steak
  •   Salt and Pepper

Cooking the Steak

Add the oil to a skillet/pan then set to a medium heat. Do this about a minute before adding the steak on the skillet so you get a good even  sear on the steak. Pat dry all sides of the steak. Salt and pepper all sides of the steak. For thicker cuts you will need to over season. Add steak to hot skillet and sear on all sides.

After searing, place the butter, garlic, and thyme in the skillet. You can either cook to perfection or baste the steak with the ingredients. Prior to removing the steak from the pan to eat you can  dust off the excess garlic and thyme if need be. Let meat rest for about  3 minutes before serving the steak.

About this recipe

This is a bit of a modified version of a recipe from a website on how the paid chefs in resteraunts cook steaks. Its a simple, really tasty and fast way to cook steak. You can also substitute the thyme for rosemary if you prefer that taste. If you do this do not use the rosemary leaves as they are essnetially hard sticks that get very pokey in your mouth when you eat them.
